1. How to install:
-------------------------------------

It's simple, simply extract this archive into your teewars\data\maps folder.

-------------------------------------
2. How to play:
-------------------------------------

Join a server that runs any of our maps. The gamemode of that server should
be set to ctf, this is required.

Once you are ingame, simply join the red team to participate.
If you happen to get in the blue team, you'll find yourself in a small box
somewhere on the map where you can't do anything, and there will be clear
indication that you should join the red team instead. Note that most server
have a warmup set, so that all players have time to join the map and
join the red team before the race begins.

The goal of race is simple, the winner is the first player to reach the blue
flag which is somewhere on the map (usually it is obvious where to go).

Finally, don't forget to turn on high details in the settings if you are new,
this will show arrows in the background which will help you find your way.

Gl, hf!

3. Setting up a server:
-------------------------------------

On how to set up a normal server, you can find instructions on the teewars
website. Once you have that running, you have two choices.

The Easy way:

Move the race_server.cfg that we brought you to the main Teewars folder.
Then simply run "teewars_srv.exe -f race_server.cfg"

The Hard way:
(Or if the easy way doesn't work.)

You need to manually set the following settings in your default.cfg
(or whatever config file you are using):

 sv_gametype=ctf
 sv_scorelimit=1
 sv_warmup=15
 sv_teamdamage=0

These are absolutely necessairy, without them it wont be playable.
Futher you should set the following:

 sv_map=race1
 sv_maprotation=race1 race2 race9 race6 race4 race11 race7 race3 race12 race5 race8 race13
 sv_timelimit=0
 sv_max_clients=12
 sv_name=<your server name here>

Also, if you are playing on your own server, you can change map with the rcon
console(F2) by setting the same rcon_password both in the server cfg and
in the game.

The map pool you can of course modify as you like, but remember that if
you include maps that are not in this mappack, every player will drop
that does not have that map.

Here are some futher tips for your map pool:
*Try to vary your map pool compared to other servers.
 (So if no one is hosting almost all the maps, do it yourself! or vice versa)
*Try having a theme or focus on a specific kind of maps,
 For example only speed maps or only short maps, and so on...

-------------------------------------
4. Short descriptions of the maps:
-------------------------------------

race1-9:
 Usually small thight intense maps, great for lots of action and interaction
 with other players. But watch out, here and there you'll find huge
 sections with enourmus gaps that you can fall down and lose precious time!

race10:
 You might not have noticed, but we actually don't include this map in the
 standard maprotation! The reason is that it is very long and usually takes
 about 2min even for fast players. If you recognize it, it's because this
 is a fusion of race2 and race3.

race11-13:
 These are the so called "speedmaps". They are wider and more "clean" then
 the usual maps and focuses much more on speed, with the essential aid
 of your trusty grenade launcher and 10 armor.
 All three maps have a slightly different style, the first one focuses
 very heavily on curved bends, the second one is a bit more thight, and the
 third one has nasty obstacles in its path.

5. Is this really a mod?:
-------------------------------------

A: No actually it ain't. It just sounds better that way, with all the files
and stuff :P. So having "installed" this does not modify your Teewars game,
neither does it prevent you from playing in esl or any other cup, and it does
not break the Teewars licence :).

Q: Why don't you have more details in your maps? Why no grass/dirt borders?
A: There are several answers to this. First of all, to add grass/dirt borders
would not only take enourmus amounts of time, it's also impossible to do it
pretty due to the lack in graphical tiles regarding everything that is small.
Futhermore, we felt that by keeping the graphics extremly simple, we could
distance the mod a bit futher from regular Teewars, to kind of pound it into
your head "THIS IS NOT DEATHMATCH! THIS IS RACE!". hehe xP.

-------------------------------------
6. Troubleshooting:
-------------------------------------

Q: The game says I don't have the map?
A: Make sure the files land exactly in the teewars\data\maps folder,
they should not be in maps\race_mod or anything like that.

Q: The game says the checksum of the map differs from the server?
A: First, check so that you have the latest version of the race mod, in the
forum on the Teewars website. If you do, it might be that the server itself
is hosting corrupted maps, simply ignore that server in this case.
Finally, it might be that you have edited the maps yourself, which
will also corrupt them. Then simply download the race mod again and replace
your old maps.
